LG W30 – Exclusive Triple Camera

LG is one of those companies who were renowned for launching exclusive budget smartphones for the users. In this ever-growing competitive mobile business world, they have lost their path a little bit. But recently they have tried to come back with three new smartphones LG W10, W30 & W30 pro.

Good Looking Design

In spite of having a plastic body, the LG W30 has a gorgeous design which gives it a premium look. The device comes in two different color variants: Platinum grey and Thunder blue version.

It has got a premium look because of its’ chrome-plated sides and a brushed aluminum pattern on the back covered with 2.5D curved plastic. The front glass and the sides have rounded edges which makes the LG W30 very comfortable to hold.

The plastics used in W30 are good enough to resist any scuff marks or scratches on the laminated back. On the left of the phone, there is a hybrid dual-SIM tray which supports two 4G Nano-SIMs with VoLTE and ViLTE. At its down, microSD card slot has been provided for internal storage.

The headphone socket is placed on the top, while the speaker and Micro-USB port are at the bottom. At such a price range, USB type C port was expected to provide but LG didn’t feel the necessity of it.

Customizable Notch Display

LG W30 has a pretty large 6.26-inch LCD display of HD+ resolution with 18.9:9 aspect ratio. The display quality is very satisfactory. It has a notched display with thick borders on all sides of the phone. One of the most interesting thing about the smartphone’s display is the availability of customizable option for the notch. You can choose between the water drop, V-notch or a full bezel on the top for the smartphone. There is an option available too to disable the notch if you don’t prefer it but that might reduce the display size by disabling the screen area around the notch.

Versatile Camera Section

The LG W30 has three excellent rear cameras. The main 12-megapixel camera is featured with an aperture of f/2.0, a 13-megapixel wide-angle fixed-focus camera with a f/2.2 aperture, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Sony IMX486 sensor has been used in the main camera. In daylight, image quality is decent enough to satisfy the user. They are sharp, the colors look vivid too. Sometimes photos captured in landscape mood lack good detail. The autofocus system in the camera section is slightly dull which needs to get improved soon.

LG W30 rear camera ; Image Source : firstpost.com

The W30 has a dedicated night mode option for capturing photos in low light, but the rear camera finds it difficult to capture photos with details and the photos come out grainy in the mode. The selfie camera works good in sufficient light, but the photos often become slightly overexposed at times.

There are different modes in the camera section to capture photos like Panorama, Video, Photo, Bokeh, Beauty, Night, Time Lapse and Slow Motion.

Moderate Software & Hardware

LG W30 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 processor along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage facilities. The memory can be expanded by inserting a microSD card. The chipset given in the phone is basically used in entry level smartphones so it might be difficult for W30 to withstand in  the competition with other smartphones like Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 Pro which offer better specifications and features.

Coming to the software, the LG W30 runs on Android 9 Pie. The default Android 9 navigation style uses a swipe-able Home button to switch between apps, just like on Google Pixel phones, but you can switch to the more common three-button scheme. Digital Wellbeing is also present in the phone. The user interface is lightweight and quite smooth to use.

Performance

One of the most amazing thing of the phone is weight in the device. In spite of having a powerful 4,000 mAh battery, the LG W30 is pretty light in weight.

LG W30 Powerful battery ; Image Source : lg.com

Heavy use of the cameras and even moderate gaming don’t put pressure on its’ battery life, which is one of the impressive sides of LG W30. It can easily last for about a day and a half (if not more) on a single charge by moderate usage. The phone ships with a 10W adapter, which can charge the battery upto 100% within two & half hours. It has only one 3/32 GB variant which costs RS 9,999.

LG W30 is one of the budget phones introduced by LG. There are so many competitors of the phone in a similar price range. But if you consider its’ impressive built quality, attractive looks & its’ vivid display, you can surely choose this phone.

Oppo K3 – All in One?

Oppo is a reputed smartphone company for bringing gorgeous looking smartphones over the years. To compete with smartphones like Realme X, Redmi K20, Oppo has introduced their recently released smartphone Oppo K3.

Attractive Design

Oppo knows very well how to make attractive phones. Oppo K3 smartphone is also one of them. It gets a good looking plastic rear panel curves around the edge to offer a comfortable grip.

It comes in two different colors – Aurora Blue and Jade Black. Both the variants look very appealing. Such exclusive colors make the K3 look premium. The back part is resistant to fingerprints and smudges but it might register scratches unless you have a cover on it.

It is 9.4mm thick and weighs 191 grams. The weight of the phone doesn’t feel too heavy but not too light as well. The metal frame sees a power button on the right and volume keys on the left.

The pop-up camera is mounted at the top center of the phone. The sensor of the camera is protected by a sapphire glass. The bottom part has a headphone jack, Type-C port, microphone and a single speaker grille. The right side of the frame is where a SIM slot has been given which can hold two nano SIM cards. Unfortunately the phone does not offer microSD card support to expand the storage. The internal storage is also limited to 64 GB which can be disappointing for some users.

Impressive Display

The Oppo K3 has an attractive 6.5-inch AMOLED display along with full-HD+ resolution facility and Gorilla Glass for scratch protection. There’s also an in-display fingerprint sensor attached for quick authentication. The display offers a near bezel-less screen that means there is no notch or punch-hole cutout. It also comes with Widevine L1 certification to stream movies and TV shows on reputed platforms like Netflix and Prime Video in true HD resolution which is a great news for the movie lovers.

In the box, the Oppo K3 ships with a VOOC 3.0 fast charger, USB Type-C cable, case, SIM eject tool and a warranty booklet.

Excellent Performance

Oppo K3 is powered by 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, which is a mid-level power-efficient chip to provide good CPU and GPU performance.

This powerful chipset is not only capable of handling workload, but it also gives the users of this phone terrific gaming experience. The phone can run very graphic-intensive games like smoothly without any noticeable lag or stutters.

It also supports dual 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5, USB-OTG, GPS, and the usual suite of sensors. Surprisingly there is no notification LED on the phone, but there is an always-on screen feature to show you a clock as well as alerts of missed calls and SMS.

Pop-up Camera Setup

The Oppo K3 comes with a 16-megapixel primary sensor having an f/1.7 aperture paired with a 2-megapixel depth-sensing camera for Portrait mode. The autofocus system available on the primary camera is pretty quick.  In daylight landscapes, details were found in the photos, colors had nice saturation and HDR option was decent enough to balance the exposure.

The camera app has some other interesting features such as Video, Night, Pano, Expert, Time-Lapse, Slo-Mo, flash, HDR, Chroma Boost, Filter etc.

The Oppo K3 has also a 16-megapixel pop-up selfie camera, which can capture good enough selfies. The HDR is very effective here to maintain good details on your face while still exposing objects in the background nicely. The camera might struggle a bit to capture good detail in low light but the screen flash would help to overcome the issue.

For video purposes, the Oppo K3 can record at up to 4K resolution without any stabilization.

Moderate Battery with Fast Charging

The Oppo K3 houses a 3,765mAh capacity, which is decent but not anything magnificent. It’s a good thing that Oppo K3 supports VOOC 3.0 fast charging which can charge from zero to 100 percent within 80 minutes only. It runs on ColorOS 6  which is basically based on Android 9 Pie. It also has Dolby Atmos, which can be enabled by default when using the phone’s speaker.

It is available in two variants — one with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Its price is Rs. 16,990 whereas the other with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at Rs. 19,990.

Oppo K3 is undoubtedly a complete package for any smartphone user. Because of its appealing display, classy design, awesome gaming performance & most importantly versatile camera section, it can beat any smartphone of the same price range indeed.

Realme – The New Competitor of Xioami?

The smartphone market is now full of so many reputed mobile selling companies. Every year different companies are entering into the business & making this sector more competitive. Xiaomi is one of those Chinese mobile company who already has earned worldwide recognition for providing excellent mobile phones to customers at a much cheaper rate than other world-class companies. They are proudly dominating the Asian mobile market by introducing mid-range budget smartphones regularly.

But it looks like their domination might end soon as Realme has flourished rapidly since they were founded on May 2018. It was initially a sub-brand of another Chinese smartphone company Oppo who later got separated from them.

Realme smartphones ; Image Source : digitaltrends.com

Since then, Realme is showing their worth in the sector. Within the launch of 6 months, Realme has gained the honor of being the third largest smartphone brand in India.

Now they are having 9% market share in India whereas Xiaomi leads the list by 29% & Samsung is in the second position by having 19% market share.  They also became the second largest in the online segment with 18% share. Previously famous mobile brands like Huawei, Vivo were in the list but Realme jumped to the list by overcoming them.

Realme 1 was the first smartphone launched by Realme which was followed up with Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro & Realme U1. Recently they have launched their most exclusive smartphone Realme x.

The rise of Realme ; Image Source : androidauthority.com

Realme India CEO Madhav Seth was asked last year how he sees the emerging journey of Realme & their rivalry with Xiaomi. He confessed that Xiaomi was considering Realme as one of their supreme competitors.

They’re (Xiaomi) too huge a brand to compete with us but if they’re acknowledging us as their competition, we’re very happy with that. We always welcome competition.” He also said.

The company currently has more than 3000 stores across 35 cities and they are planning to expand it up to 150 cities in 2019 by introducing 20000 stores.

Till December 2018 Realme sold more than 5 million devices and is now planning to expand their business to Europe market as it’s currently present in South East Asia and Middle-East markets. That shows how desperate they are to occupy the smartphone market.

Recently Madhav Seth again pointed at Xiaomi saying that they are insecure about the emergence of Realme. Basically he reacted to a tweet of Xiaomi India head Manu Jain where he said that Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 7 Pro is a much better choice than Realme 3 Pro comparing the chipsets. As Snapdragon 675 has been featured in Redmi Note 7 Pro whereas Realme 3 Pro has 7th series chipset Snapdragon 710. Manu Jain claimed Snapdragon 675 better than Snapdragon 710. According to him snapdragon 710 is one year old processor which they already used in their previous smartphone. However Seth found this claim totally meaningless as a 6th series chipset can never provide better performance than a 7th series chipset.

However, the Snapdragon 710 offers better clocked speeds of up to 2.2GHz comparing with the 2.0GHz clock speed of Snapdragon 675. Furthermore, the Snapdragon 710 is enriched with a better GPU with Adreno 616 GPU and it is more power efficient as compared to the Snapdragon 675 processor. However, it should be noted that the chipset performance is one of the major parts of the smartphone which determines the performance of it. Such a cold war between the CEO’s of two giant smartphone companies has got more spark as Xiaomi India’s sales head Deepak Nakra has resigned from the company recently & joined their rival company Realme India as its offline business sales head. He joined Xiaomi in 2017 and before that he worked in Samsung where he was director of sales and distribution for South and West.

The news has been confirmed from Nakra’s Linkedin profile. This comes at a time when Realme has gained so much popularity among the budget smartphone users & has gained worth mentioning share in online smartphone sales. Their sudden growth in the smartphone industry is surely a big threat to other mobile phone companies such as Xiaomi, Samsung, Oppo and Vivo.

Xiaomi has been ruling the smartphone market of Asian market but it looks like Realme has joined the competition to beat them. They have enough resources & potential as well. So if they can maintain their impressive quality & performance, they will dominate the Asian smartphone market soon along with Xiaomi.

Samsung A50 – Perfect For Moderate Users?

Samsung has always been recognized for its S series smartphones. But recently they have launched some excellent mid-range budget phones of A series which have attracted so many users. Samsung A50 is another great example of that.

Typical Display Section

It is almost a bezel less screen. Only a slim bezel has been given on the front of the screen which is noticeable at the bottom. There is also a water drop notch seen at the top of the front screen. Samsung has preferred to give a plastic body in it to keep its’ weight down to only 166 grams. The phone might pick up some scratches for its’ plastic body & so a quality case should be used to protect it from scratching.

Metal has been used in the central frame and the phone has both volume and power button on the right. On the left, there is a tray with dual nano-SIM card slots as well as a dedicated microSD card slot. At the bottom edge of the phone, a 3.5mm headphone jack & a USB-C port with the speaker grille have been included.

There is no fingerprint reader featured at the back. That’s because the Galaxy A50 has an optical in-display fingerprint scanner which basically doesn’t work as fast as a standard capacitive fingerprint reader. The in-display fingerprint scanner allows you to unlock your phone by putting in your thumb.

Moderate Battery

The Samsung Galaxy A50 has a 4,000mAh battery which is a step down from the larger 5,000mAh battery given on the Galaxy M30 which is pretty much disappointing. But still it lasts all day long after charging the phone up to 100%.

The phone has a powerful 15W fast charging support attached with the fast charger given in the box. There is also Samsung’s standard power saving modes available in the A50 phone which works really well.

Samsung A50 phone ; Image Source : gizguide.com

Convincing Hardware & Software

Samsung has given Android Pie in the Galaxy A50 unlike the Samsung M series smartphones. A new security patch has arrived in July 2019 on the phone. It is the first non-flagship device of Samsung where Android Pie has been featured. On top of that, the phone has a UI-based interface which is also available in the Samsung Galaxy S10 as well. That shows the specialty of the A50 smartphone.

The software is convenient to use. After setting up the phone intially, you will find several pre-installed apps of Samsung which can be useful for you. It is better to have such apps of Samsung initially rather than having some third party apps which can damage the phones’ software.

Exynos 9610 chipset has made the Galaxy A50 phone very powerful. It has four Cortex-A73 cores which are clocked at 2.3GHz for heavy tasks. Besides these four, there are another four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7GHz which mainly emphasize on the efficiency of the smartphone. The Mali G72 MP3 GPU featured in the phone takes care of the graphics of the smartphone.

Exclusive Triple Camera Setup

Samsung has always reputation for providing excellent camera section to the users. Galaxy A50 is also one of those camera giant phones. It comes with a triple rear camera setup which has a primary lens of 25 megapixel, a 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 5 megapixel depth sensor.

The primary camera of the phone captures excellent photos in natural light. The photos become little bit faded in low-light.

The ultra-wide camera is actually the main attraction of the camera section of the phone which allows you to capture any photo with lot more depth. Even though A50 enables the the option to change exposure of the scene manually before taking ultra-wide shots even though there is no autofocus.

The 25MP front-facing camera produces decent images which are preferable to the users. The selfies captured by the selfie camera of A50 can be regarded as good-looking shots as long as there is enough light.

The phone is available in two variants considering RAM storage. One is 4GB variant, another is 6GB of RAM. Both variants have 64GB of storage which is decent enough for the users.

Samsung has recently launched a lot of smartphones of their A series & M series. A50 is an excellent pick for you if you are fond of a smartphone with a classy AMOLED display. But it might bother you in case you are a heavy user. Only being a moderate smartphone user, you can fall in love with this A50 smartphone.

Seeking for Advanced Performance? This is How Mi 9T will Satisfy You

Xiaomi’s Mi 9 smartphone was one of those smartphones to come with powerful snapdragon 855 chipset. Now they have introduced even more balanced smartphone Mi 9T.

Attractive Design

The premium design of Mi 9T will surely attract the Xiaomi lovers to choose it. The design of it is almost similar to K20 Pro. But a gradient finish with patterns has been provided at the corners of the device which makes it even more beautiful. Xiaomi has preferred not to give any notch in the phone.

But still it looks fantastic. It has three different colors which are Carbon Black, Red Flame & Glacier Blue. It has a curved glass back including glossy metal rails which might make it slightly slippery to hold. In that case, the users have to maintain some carefulness. The in-display fingerprint sensor is pretty quick & doesn’t make delay to register the thumb of the user.

Super Camera Section

Xiaomi has kept their tradition of providing excellent camera section in this smartphone as well. A 48 mega-pixel main rear camera is available in the phone with f/1.75 aperture. There is also a second 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a third 13-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture.

Both Exmor-RS CMOS Sensor & Phase Detection Autofocus have been featured in this phone so that the users can capture excellent photos having enough depth & detail. The images captured by the camera are incredibly sharp with excellent dynamic range. The low light performance of the camera is a little harsh but you have to accept it considering the price range of a mid-range budget phone.

A 20-megapixel popup camera has been given at the front which is an exclusive addition to the phone. Its’ pixel size is 0.8 um & aperture is f/2.2. The camera section has got some other magnificent features like Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Compass & Gyroscope which help the users to use the camera in different aspects.  It can record videos at 1080p resolution too.

Powerful Processor

A Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor has been given in this smartphone. One of the CPU is 2×2.2 GHz Kryo 470 Gold & the other is 6×1.7 GHz Kryo 470 Silver. An Adreno 618 GPU helps to run it smoothly. Though it’s a downgrade indeed considering that Xiaomi provided snapdragon 855 chipset in Mi 9, but they are certainly bound to do it to keep 9Ts’ price minimum.

Display & Update

It has a big 6.39-inch AMOLED display with 1080×2340 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The screen gives decent brightness to use when you are out of home. The weight of this phone is 191 grams & it is 8.8 mm slim. Xiaomi has preferred to give a notch free display in 9T which gives it a premium look.

Its’ body is made of Aluminum with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 front & glass back to give it enough protection. Its’ screen to body ratio is 85.9. It has a USB type C port along with a 3.5mm earphone jack.

Xiaomi 9T runs on latest Android Pie & it is operated by Xiaomi’s customized MIUI 10. This latest UI gives stability to the smartphone by adding so many features & providing improvement in various sections of the phone. Besides this, MIUI has a reputation for aggressive task management.

Battery & Other Specifications

It has got a powerful 4000 mAh Li-Po battery which can keep the device active for many hours. There is also a 18W fast charging support which will definitely help those users who do multitasking on their phones. It also has 64/128 GB internal storage coupled by 6GB Ram which will ensure smooth running of all the apps installed on the phone. But as there is no external memory card slot, that can be a slight concern for the users.

A lot of connectivity options have been featured in this smartphone such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/n, a Bluetooth version 5.0, a USB Type C, Mobile Hotspot and with A-GPS, Glonass, BDS etc.

Mi 9T Color Variants ; Image Source : xda-developers.com

It comes with two variants : 6/64 & 6/128. The price of 6/64 & 6/128 variants is expected to be 270 & 300 pounds respectively. It will be launched on July 31,2019.

Mi 9T is neither a budget phone nor a flagship killer but this phone is surely a great combination of excellent display & fantastic camera section. If you prefer to capture beautiful photos & want an appealing display on your phone, Mi 9T is surely recommended for you.

Xiaomi A3: Why You Should Buy It

Recently the latest smartphone of Xiaomi A series has been launched & it’s nothing else than Xiaomi A3. Previously A1 & A2 smartphones were launched by Xiaomi. Their success inspired them to bring out another one in this “A” series. It is a third generation smartphone of Xiaomi which comes with the stock Android because of being under the ‘Android One’ program.

Excellent Configuration & Storage

It has a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset on which an octa-core processor functions at 2GHz. It is built on an 11nm process. It also allows the device to use triple cameras and 48-megapixel sensors properly. To ensure smooth multitasking & excellent gaming performance, it is enriched with 4GB of RAM which can be extended up to 128GB UFS 2.1 storage.

That will help you to keep a large amount of data safely & securely. Eight of Qualcomm’s custom Kryo 260 cores are used in this chip set along with Adreno 610 GPU which fulfills the requirements of the graphics section.

Improved Camera

Xiaomi has ensured a major upgrade in the camera section comparing with its’ previous smartphones of A series. Triple camera has been set up in this device whereas the back camera has a 48MP camera sensor with f/1.78 aperture. An 8MP ultra-wide camera including a 2MP depth camera is available too in the smartphone.

There is also a 32MP selfie camera on the front which is one of the main reasons for the selfie lovers to prefer this phone. Panorama selfie option has been given in this phone to capture group photos without using any selfie stick. It has also “Palm Shutter Feature” by which anyone can do a countdown to capture selfies only by using a gesture rather than pressing the shutter button.

Color Variation

Xiaomi A3 comes with three different color options which are “Not Just Blue”, “More Than White, and Kind of Gray. According to Xiaomi, there’s a nano-level holographic pattern on the blue and white variants of the smartphone.

Color Variants of A3 ; Image Source : gadgetmatch.com

Powerful Battery & Other Specific Configurations

Xiaomi has brought a significant change in its’ battery too. A3 has a powerful 4030 mAh battery whereas the A2 had only 3000 mAh battery. It also supports a 18W fast charging which will allow the battery to get refilled within a short period of time.

Android 9 (Pie) has been featured in A3 which will also allow two major OS upgrades in it. It is 8.4 mm slim and weighs 173.8 grams. That means you can easily hold it while using.

A lot of connectivity options can be enabled in this smartphone such as 4G VoLTE support, Mobile Hotspot, Bluetooth v5, Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n, GPS with A-GPS, USB Type-C, etc.

Another major improvement has been taken in Xiaomi A3 regarding its’ headphone jack. Previously there was no headphone jack in the A2 which received a lot of complaints from the Xiaomi lovers. So they didn’t want to repeat the same mistake & included the 3.5mm audio jack again.

Xiaomi A3 blue variant; Image Source: gsmarena.com

Downfall in Display

In spite of having so many positive sides, Xiaomi A3 has already raised some controversies for its’ display section.  It comes with an AMOLED 6.08-inch display of 720 x 1,560 pixels including a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It’s front & back is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to protect it from any accident. The users were surely expecting to have FHD+ display rather than having a HD+ display.

It is indeed a matter of disappointment as the previous A series phones such as A2 & A2 lite featured 1080p resolution. Though they provided the OLED display here instead of the IPS LCD display which was used in A1 & A2, but it’s still not acceptable to so many users in this price range.

It has a stylish water drop display which certainly gives it a premium look. There is also in display fingerprint sensor in A3 which is a noticeable improvement in the display section.

After the launch of K20 Pro in India, Xiaomi has launched A3 smartphone in Spain. They are going to arrange a launch event of this phone in Malaysia on July 31. The price of its’ 4GB/64GB variant is €249 ($280) and 4GB/128GB variant is €279 ($315).

What Happens To Huawei After Losing Access To Android?

Huawei is going through an extremely challenging phase right now. According to Reuters, Google apparently has restricted Huawei for accessing their proprietary features. Primarily, the spokesperson of Google said that they are just complying the order given by the US Government. The restriction has been effective from May 16 this year. Apparently, the present Trade War between China and the US is the main reason for this restriction.

The US Government has accused Huawei as a national security threat. They added Huawei to a list of 44 Chinese entities which subjects to US export controls. That means US companies will be required to have a license from the US Government before selling any parts or components of the Chinese company. That means a downfall of Huawei mobile company in the US.

Huawei P30 Pro, Image source: androidcentral

The second largest smartphone company in the world which sold nearly 200 million smartphones last year, is solely dependent on Android, the most popular operating system in the world. Huawei has been exponentially rising since they started to make Android mobiles.

They have been extremely popular in all over the world for their mobile from all price ranges. This ban will restrict them using certain Android features in their mobile. Following are some facilities that Huawei and their sister brands are losing for this restriction-

The rise of Huawei, Image source: Financial Times

‌‌Restricted Android Updates

Huawei will no longer receive early android updates. They will receive Android updates, but that will take several months as Huawei will get to access only after Google makes the update available to Android Open Source Project. That means the users will get slower updates and hence Huawei will have to push these updates to its users itself and adapt them for its personalized user interface, resulting in slowing things up further.

Restricted Security Updates

Same goes for the security updates also. The Huawei Users will get the Android Security Updates once it’s made available to the Android Open Source Project. Although Huawei has promised to maintain regular security updates, they won’t come directly from Google. It’s not still clear if they have a system to deliver those updates.

No Play Store

Sadly, this is true. Huawei will no longer have Google Play Store in their next smartphones. That means the users will longer be able to download apps directly ffrom play stores. Huawei may build up their own complete app store, but that can never replace the Google Play Store.

No Longer Access to Google’s Proprietary Apps

This is disheartening for all of us that the future Huawei Users will not be able to some most popular apps like Google Chrome, Youtube, Gmail, etc. These apps are Google’s proprietary apps from which Huawei is now restricted. However, the upcoming Huawei smartphones will still be able to use the available in the Android Open Source Project.

Google cuts off Huawei from their priority list; Image source: The Verge

According to Bloomberg, some giant chip-making companies like Qualcomm, Intel, Broadcom, Xilinx has announced to restrict its business with Huawei. They told their employees that they will not supply critical software and components to Huawei until further notice.

This is also a massive pressure on Huawei because Huawei is dependent on them for not only their smartphone manufacture but also other gadget manufacturing like laptops and tablets. Apparently, Huawei has to find new chip-making companies for producing their upcoming mobiles.

However, this restriction will not effect existing Huawei devices. The Android authority tweeted ensuring imposing no change to the Huawei devices that are already in the market.

So, it’s a relief for the or current Huawei users. Also, Huawei confirmed that their newest smartphone Honor 20 which got released on May 21, will also be out of restriction. This certainly gives them some time to think of an alternative way.

Huawei has already announced to make their own operating system called HongMeng for its upcoming smartphones and tablets. This will certainly create a competition between Huawei and Google in terms of innovation and facilities.

Huawei has certainly got into trouble with all these restrictions. The number of companies cutting off business with them is increasing over time. They will have to recover what they have lost, and they will have to do it with better technologies than Google. If they can overcome this restriction, they will certainly be able to keep their place, or this company will be eclipsed within no time.

LG G8 ThinQ: Hit or Miss?

LG has released a new flagship device in April this year. The LG G8 ThinQ has already received mixed reactions from the followers. LG is currently going through a down phase. Their last flagship LG G7 ThinQ miserably failed to impress the people by its mediocre performance and same old features but still high-priced.

For the last few years, LG has been struggling with poor sales of their mobile phones. The customers have complained to face Bootloop problem and software issues in some of their past flagships like G3, G4, G5. However, LG apparently solved that problem in G6 which eventually became a hit.

After the failure of G7 ThinQ, LG has been trying hard to introduce new innovations and unique features in their next flagship phone. And now the G8 ThinQ has arrived hoping to recover their old reputation.

The LG G8 ThinQ; Image source: Engadget

The LG G8 ThinQ was announced in February and released in April this year. They have introduced some new features like Hand ID and Air Motion. Stylish design and notch display have given it an elegant look.

The display, processor, camera, battery, interface everything looks interesting but the question remains if all these features are as efficient as other flagship devices from other top mobile companies. Let’s dig into its feature and performance results.

Stylish design makes it look elegant; Image source: Marques Brownlee

The LG G8 ThinQ comes in two different models one of which has two rear cameras and the other one has 3 rear cameras. The rest of the features remain the same. The mobile has been designed with an aluminum frame with both front and back Gorilla glass.

The mobile is 8.4 mm thin which is quite impressive just as other flagship devices. Exclusive color options and the back glass impressively made it an elegant looking device. The mobile is certified IP68 dust/waterproof up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. The fingerprint sensor is rear mounted so easier to reach.

LG G8 ThinQ has a 6.1” P-OLED capacitive touchscreen display with 16M colors and about 564ppi pixel density which is quite impressive as the display is great for a perfectly saturated and bright display but the screen has very high contrast which apparently doesn’t fulfill the vivid display we expected.

It comes with an Android version 9.0 (Pie) and a LG UX 8.0 UI. The interanace is quite clean and smooth and the software is quite impressive. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset and an octa-core processor makes the performance really fast and solid.

And also, 6GB RAM produces a more superior performance. 128 GB internal memory with expandable memory makes it really impressive since many top mobile companies no longer use expandable storage which bothers the users.

The three camera model comes with an additional telephoto camera Image source: LG

The LG G8 ThinQ comes with two or three rear cameras in different models. Of which the three camera device has an additional telephoto lens which is now quite common in the flagship devices with multiple cameras.

Other than that both models have a standard camera and an ultra-wide camera. The standard camera comes with Optical Image Stabilization which produces really well focused and sharpened photo. The ultra-wide camera has no Auto Focus feature and not so impressive for clicking ultra-wide photos

It also has a portrait feature which is just as fine as the other flagship cameras. Both models have dual selfie camera which is quite decent and also the ultra wide selfie camera is quite efficient to click group selfies. However, the camera has no new feature as expected from them.

They also have a two camera variant; Image source: Marques Brownlee

It has a non removable Li-Po 3500 mAh battery with Quick Charge version 3.0. The battery capacity is quite average as a mobile with 6.1” should have 4000 mAh battery for all day use.

However, the fast charging feature can recover the issue. It also supports wireless charging like other flagship devices. They also have a 3.5 mm headphone jack which is a plus point because some flagship devices like iPhone and Google Pixel doesn’t have any headphone jack.

The Hand ID was the most exclusive feature of LG G8 ThinQ Image source: LG

The most exclusive and “innovative” feature introduced in LG G8 ThinQ is the Hand ID and the Air Motion. The Hand ID is basically using the palm of your hand to unlock your device.

If you show your palm in front of the front cameras, it will unlock. The users have described it as quite unnecessary and inconvenient because it is not that much handy like a fingerprint sensor. This mobile already has a fingerprint sensor so the users don’t feel like using the Hand ID.

The Air Motion is a feature in which you can operate and scroll your device without directly touching your mobile. This feature seems so much interesting but it has no practical use. It’s disappointing how the two “Exclusive” features introduced by LG came to no use.

The price point starting at 820US$ is not worth the specifications and their so-called “Innovative” features. LG has failed again to produce excellent flagships like their G2 or G4. No one will want to buy an overpriced device with very few impressive features. In this price range, the customer would rather fall for other flagship devices like Samsung Galaxy S10 or Oneplus 7.

LG has produced excellent flagships before. It’s saddening to see such downgrading performance of their company and products. We really hope one day they will make truly innovative and useful mobiles to rise as one of the top mobile companies just as before.

Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL: High End Phones in Your Budget!

Google has recently released a mid-range phone in the market. They have released two versions of this phone naming Google Pixel 3a and Google Pixel 3a XL. Apparently it has already become popular among the people. High end specifications in a mid range budget from a top mobile company was enough to attract the fans. Google Pixel 3a is the ultimate example of affordable high end phone.

The Google Pixel 3a was released in May,2019. They come with two different models, Google Pixel 3a and Google Pixel 3a XL. Classic design with front glass looks almost similar to Google Pixel 3 with rounded edges and screen corners, and the same rear design.

However, the material used on the Pixel 3a panel is plastic whereas the Pixel 3 back panel was made of glass. This certainly explains how the cost was cut down to deliver a budget phone. There is no notch or punch hole display like other phones, instead designed keeping the classic bezel with a 75% screen to body ratio in Pixel 3a and 76.3% screen to body ratio in Pixel 3a XL.

Both of them come with OLED capacitive touchscreen with Asahi Dragontail Glass. The Pixel 3a has a 5.6” display and 3a XL has a 6” display and both features 1080p HD display. Both of them are quite light-weighted due to their plastic body.

The most exclusive feature offered by this phone is the stock Android. The Google Pixel phone presents a more simplified version of Android that is user-friendly and looks clean. They get the operating system updates first where other Android mobiles take more time to provide the update. The Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL come with stock android version 9.0 (pie).

Both of them present 4GB RAM with 64GB ROM with Snapdragon 670 chipset and Octa-core processor. Which is not quite as fast as the expensive high end mobiles, but it is certainly one of the best in this range. If we compare it with Pixel 3, it seems a little slow. But still smooth and clean since the stock Android.

They both feature a single rear camera and a single selfie camera in front. Pixel 3 was so popular for its camera quality, its single rear camera is enough to beat all the multiple camera phones in the current market.

Pixel 3a and 3a XL both got the same camera as the Pixel 3. 12.2 MP f/1.8 camera comes with a dual LED flash and a better HDR. The rear camera is capable of equally sharpened and vibrant photos just as dual or multiple cameras. It can also shoot 4k videos at 30fps and 1080p videos at 30/60/120fps which is quite brilliant as a budget phone camera.

The camera can click excellent portrait photos also. Most cameras require two sensors to click and process a portrait photo, but the Pixel 3a and 3a XL could easily handle portraits with just one well-built camera.

It has no secondary sensor yet it can click well sharpened and well-focused portrait photos, which is brilliant. The front camera is an 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera which is quite average just as the mid-range mobile phones.

Google Pixel 3a comes with a non-removable 3000 mAh Li-Po battery and Pixel 3a XL comes with a non-removable 3700 mAh Li-Po battery. Which was better than their flagship predecessor Pixel 3.

Both of them are enough for everyday use. They come with fast charging capabilities and a Type-C USB charger. However, none of them have wireless charging feature.

Both of them present 3.5 mm jack which was absent in even Pixel 3. This is a plus-point of them because many fans were quite disappointed with that missing feature of Pixel 3. The audio system is consisted of a loudspeaker with stereo speakers.

The Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL is quite excellent according to its price and feature. They both provide an equally solid performance just as an expensive flagship phone and also the stock Android gives it a smooth and clean interface. Though the looks and material don’t feel as elegant as expensive phones, it will soon be a centerpiece of the current market for its affordability and top-notch features.
